Head-on crash kills Jacksonville man

One driver was killed and another injured Thursday night in Lonoke in a head-on crash on Arkansas 294.

Arkansas State Police say a 1986 Toyota was traveling west on the highway near Moody Road when it crossed the centerline and hit an eastbound Dodge head-on shortly after 8 p.m.

The Toyota driver, 57-year-old Mark Lingo of Jacksonville, suffered fatal injuries. The Dodge driver, 18-year-old Caleb Bracy of Lonoke, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Springhill. His condition wasn't clear.

The report didn't indicate what might have caused the Toyota to cross the centerline. Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

The death and three others Thursday raised to 221 the number of people killed in traffic crashes in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
