18-year-old charged in vehicle break-ins

An 18-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins in Sherwood that netted him a North Little Rock police radio before he was caught, police said.

Nicholas "Nick" Vandale was arrested Wednesday morning at a North Little Rock residence and charged with two counts of felony theft by receiving and one count of misdemeanor theft by receiving.

His arrest came after a North Little Rock patrol car parked at an officer's home in Sherwood was broken into and the portable police radio taken early Wednesday.

Officers received information that Vandale was at a residence on Shamrock Drive in North Little Rock, which they saw him leave through the rear door with the radio and a .40-caliber Glock 23 handgun, according to his arrest report.

Vandale was released on an appearance agreement.

Search said to yield 5.9 pounds of 'pot'

Police found 5.9 pounds of marijuana, a pistol and drug paraphernalia after executing a search-and-seizure warrant at a Little Rock home Thursday afternoon.

Officers also reported seizing ammunition, plastic bags and glass jars with drug residue from a house at 1024 S. Park St., the home of Jason Oliver.

Oliver, 31, was arrested about 2 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of firearms by a certain person and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oliver was being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of bond late Wednesday.
