Police on Monday arrested Eddie McFall, 25, of 4115 Ludwig St. and charged him with misdemeanor negligent homicide, as well as fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, a felony.

According to crash investigators, McFall was behind the wheel of a black Dodge Charger that struck Pamela Rhoades, 40, on Asher Avenue on Feb. 22.

Rhoades of North Little Rock was hospitalized for several days before her relatives agreed March 2 to take her off life support, according to police.

Kenneth Young was driving west on Asher Avenue about 8:49 p.m. on the day of the accident when he spotted Rhoades walking across Asher Avenue and swerved to avoid her.

In his rearview mirror, Young watched as a black Dodge Charger struck Rhoades and kept going.

Young told officers he followed the driver and confronted him at a traffic light, telling him he had struck a woman.

The driver "agreed and then placed his face on his hands," and as Young returned to his vehicle, the driver continued on, but Young saw the vehicle's license plate.

Using the car's registration information, patrol officers went to a Nolan Drive residence weeks after Rhoades' death and found the Charger and also noted that the front of the car was severely damaged.

Eventually police tracked down the owner, Renita Nowden, who told officers she had let her nephew drive the car Feb. 22.

According to investigators, witnesses identified McFall as the driver, and arrest warrants were issued for him April 7.

McFall was cited in the two crimes, as well as two driving misdemeanors, and released. He is scheduled for his first appearance Monday in Little Rock District Court.
