NLR relative held in rape of girl, 11
A North Little Rock man was arrested Tuesday after an 11-year-old relative accused him of sexually assaulting her.
Garland Martin, 51, was charged with rape. The girl told police that in late November, she was left alone with Martin at her Little Rock home when her mother went to get pizza, according to a court affidavit. Martin is accused of sexually assaulting the girl inside the home, then following her outside and sexually assaulting her again.
The girl told police that she waited until earlier this month to tell someone about the purported assault because she was scared, the affidavit says.
Martin, of 302 Walter St., was being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond late Wednesday.
