Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said Thursday that he will run for reelection in November.

Stodola, now in his second four-year term as mayor, said in a statement that the city has made "tremendous progress" on economic development and quality-of-life issues since he first took office in 2007.

“The city of Little Rock is quickly moving in a direction I am proud to be a part of,” Stodola said in the statement. “And I hope to be there to continue to steer our city into further areas of progress and growth in the future."

A news release on the announcement noted Stodola's leadership on Main Street redevelopment, the addition of LED lights to three downtown bridges, the recently-begun renovation of Robinson Center and the opening of a day resource center for the homeless among other initiatives.

Stodola, a Democrat, won 84 percent of the vote in his first reelection campaign in 2010.
