A detention sergeant at the Pulaski County jail was arrested Thursday in Saline County on charges of domestic battery and endangering the welfare of a minor, authorities said.

Details on the arrest weren't immediately known, but 33-year-old Timothy Brickell was booked into the Saline County jail shortly after 8:30 p.m. and remained there Friday morning with bail not yet set, online records show.

Pulaski County sheriff's office Lt. Carl Minden said Brickell resigned Friday effective immediately.

Minden said Brickell and another party involved in the same incident were both arrested by the Shannon Hills Police Department. Calls to that agency went unanswered Friday morning.

Brickell, who has been employed in Pulaski County since 2010 and a sergeant since May 31, is the second Pulaski County sheriff's office jail official to be arrested this week. Then-jail deputy Joseph Conner, 27, was arrested on a charge of third-degree sexual assault after an inmate he was guarding at a local hospital accused him of inappropriate sexual conduct. Conner subsequently resigned from the agency.
