Trial expected to end for Bull Shoals police chief

HARRISON — The trial against the Bull Shoals police chief who's accused of using excessive force against a suspect is expected to end this week.

Daniel Sutterfield is accused of kicking Nicholas Dore and using a stun gun during Dore's July 2013 arrest. He's charged in federal court with depriving Dore of his rights and trying to cover it up by ordering an officer to falsify records.

An officer said he saw Sutterfield hit Dore using the butt of a shotgun and push him into a wall.

Sutterfield testified Thursday that the never struck Dore with his shotgun, but that he tapped Dore's hand with it to see if he had a weapon. He added that he didn't kick Dore.

The trial in federal court is expected to wrap up Friday.
