Little Rock police are searching for a driver who hit a pedestrian Monday morning along North Hughes Street and Amherst Cove.
Little Rock Police Lt. Sidney Allen said Barry Livingston, 76, left his residence on Auburn Drive before 6 a.m. for a run.
Another runner found Livingston lying unconscious in the grass about 120 feet south of Amherst Cove, a motor vehicle collision report states.
Emergency officials responded to the scene, where they found Livingston with a severe head injury and a broken right leg.
Police say Livingston’s injuries are consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle.
Livingston was transported to CHI St. Vincent, where he had emergency surgery. The report states that Livingston is listed in critical condition.
Police are asking the public’s assistance in finding the vehicle that hit Livingston.
“Any walkers, runners or drivers in the area that may of seen a vehicle leaving the area of Amherst and North Hughes is encouraged to call the police at (501) 918-5150,” Allen said in an email.
A description of the vehicle that hit Livingston was not available.
