Little Rock Air Force Base officials placed the facility on lockdown for more than four hours Wednesday as a report of a "suspicious individual" on the base was investigated.
A "thorough search" was conducted after the base in Jacksonville was placed on lockdown at 11:45 a.m., Col. Patrick Rhatigan said in a news release. The "suspicious individual" report was later found not to be credible, Rhatigan said.
Until the lockdown ended at 4:15 p.m., no one was allowed to enter or leave the base and personnel on-site were urged to lock the doors and stay inside.
Further circumstances of the lockdown had not been released late Wednesday.
"We responded with the necessary caution to secure our airmen, their families and our Air Force resources," Rhatigan said in the release.
