Neonatal units of some Dallas-Fort Worth area hospitals, with the help of UAMS, have installed cameras that will allow parents to see their newborns while the babies stay in intensive care units.
Angel Eye Camera Systems LLC, a company established by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, installed 79 cameras in the neonatal intensive care units at three hospitals in Texas: Texas Health Presbyterian in Dallas, Texas Health Presbyterian in Plano and Texas Harris Methodist in Fort Worth.
The webcams will not only allow parents to see their babies but also to talk to them from a cellphone or computer.
Parents can also provide password information to friends and family members, and an unlimited number of viewers can watch the babies at any time.
Angel Eye technology comes out of UAMS’ Antenatal and Neonatal Guidelines, Education and Learning System, a program that uses the latest in communications technology to provide long-distance care to rural Arkansas parents and their newborns.
