BENTON, La. — A 35-year-old Arkansas man is accused of stealing equipment worth $27,000 from a farm in Plain Dealing.

Jamie Lynn Caswell of Fouke was being held Thursday in lieu of $45,000 bond, Bossier Parish sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Bill Davis said.

He said Caswell was booked into the parish jail Thursday morning on a felony theft charge.

Davis said in an email that he did not know whether Caswell has an attorney.

He said Miller County sheriff's deputies arrested Caswell on Wednesday after the Bossier Parish department got a tip that some of the stolen equipment was at his house.

A $25,000 corn-header and a $1,000 water pump were found at Caswell's home, Davis said.

Investigators are tracking leads, but a $1,500 hay baler is still missing.

Authorities said the equipment was on trailers that a thief or thieves hitched to trucks.

Investigators are still looking into whether anyone else was involved, since the equipment was large, said Davis.
