Memphis man gets 153 years in prison for robberies

MEMPHIS — Federal prosecutors say a Memphis man has been sentenced to 153 years in prison for a string of store robberies.

U.S. District Judge S. Thomas Anderson sentenced 29-year-old Ronnie Jackson for using a gun and several accomplices to rob three Dollar General Stores, a Family Dollar store, and two Walgreens stores in April and May 2012.

According to the U.S. attorney's office, Jackson was convicted in March on six counts of robbing a business engaged in interstate commerce and six counts of using a firearm during a crime of violence.

The robberies occurred in Shelby County. The case was investigated by the federal Safe Streets Task Force, which included the Memphis Police Department, the Collierville Police Department and the FBI.
