MEMPHIS — Memphis police have arrested a man recruited to work at the Shelby County sheriff's office and charged him in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed two people last year.
Sgt. Alyssa Macon-Moore says officers arrested 24-year-old Hunter Queen on Thursday night in connection with an Aug. 18, 2013, crash on Interstate 40 east of Warford.
Two people, 37-year-old Derrick Cross and 34-year-old Jessika Cavazos, died on the scene.
Queen was arrested at the Shelby County sheriff's office training academy, where he was enrolled as a recruit.
Queen is charged with murder, reckless homicide and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Queen. He was being held in lieu of $40,000 bond.
