Southwest LR wreck leaves man dead

A vehicle wreck Monday in southwest Little Rock left a man dead and another injured, Little Rock police said Tuesday.

John Fore, 34, of Little Rock was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, with a trailer attached, south on Chicot Road about 2:19 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to a report provided by the Little Rock Police Department. The weather was clear and the road dry at the time.

The Silverado failed to stop at a red light, entered the intersection of Chicot and Mabelvale Cutoff roads and grazed a 2015 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Bobby Cates, 50, of Little Rock, the report states.

Fore told officers he had hit the brakes but that the truck never slowed. The Silverado crashed into a metal pole at the southeast corner of the intersection. Because of the truck’s damage, the Little Rock Fire Department had to cut Fore’s passenger out of the truck, according to the report.

The passenger, whom authorities couldn’t immediately identify, was killed. A deputy coroner took his body to the state Crime Laboratory for DNA analysis.

Fore was taken by ambulance to UAMS Medical Center for treatment of a cut on his left leg, the report states. Cates was not injured.
