Teen killed, another hurt after Jeep goes over bridge railing

A teenage driver was killed and a passenger hurt early Tuesday when the Jeep they were in went over a bridge railing and overturned in Clark County, authorities said.

Arkansas State Police reported Austin Tombrey, 16, of Mansfield, La., was driving a 2010 Jeep north on Hardin Road near Okolona about 12:30 a.m. when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve on a gravel road. Police say the Jeep then went over a bridge railing and overturned.

Tombrey died from unspecified injuries. A passenger, 19-year-old Abigale G. Williams of Nashville, Ark., was taken to Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Conditions at the time of the single-vehicle crash were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 243rd in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
