Preparations for the 2014-15 school year are gearing up across Pulaski County.
The Little Rock and Pulaski County Special school districts are asking parents to contact their children's school or school district in advance of the Aug. 18 start to the 2014-15 school year.
Information on student registration in the North Little Rock School District will be announced in the next few days.
The Little Rock district is asking parents of most students to "check-in" between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday or Tuesday at their child's assigned school.
The check-in enables parents to confirm plans for their child to attend the school and to obtain pertinent information for the coming school year.
However, parents of students who will be new to the district or did not receive school assignment letters for their children should register at the district's Student Registration Office at 501 Sherman St., district spokesman Pamela Smith said.
The Little Rock district's Student Registration Office is across from the downtown post office on East Capitol Avenue.
The one exception to the district's locations for check-in is Gibbs Elementary School, Smith said, because a renovation project at the school makes it necessary to hold the registration next door at the Dunbar Community Center at 1001 W. 16th St.
In the Pulaski County Special School District, only parents of students new to the district need to make contact next week with their child's elementary or secondary school registration hub site, district spokesman Deborah Roush said.
New student registration is set for Monday through Friday at each elementary school and at secondary hub locations.
Oak Grove Elementary School is the district's only exception to the locations for elementary school registration.
Because the campus is undergoing some renovations, check-in for Oak Grove Elementary will be at Maumelle Middle School.
Students who will attend Northwood Middle School, North Pulaski High School, Jacksonville and Sylvan Hills middle and high schools should register at Sylvan Hills Middle School, 10001 Johnson St., in Sherwood.
Students who will attend Joe T. Robinson middle and high schools are to register at Joe T. Robinson High School, 21501 Arkansas 10, Little Rock.
Maumelle Middle and High school students should register at Maumelle Middle School, 1000 Carnahan Drive in Maumelle.
Additionally, Fuller Middle School and Mills High School students should register at the Pulaski County Special School District's administrative office building at 925 E. Dixon Road, in southeast Little Rock.
Parents of children new to the district need to bring their child's birth certificate or a registrar statement, baptismal certificate, passport, affidavit or military identification, along with immunization records and Social Security card.
Pre-kindergarten in the district requires additional documentation for enrollment.
More information is available by calling the Adkins Pre-kindergarten School at (501) 982-3117.
Address verification is also required, which can be done by providing the family's current gas, water or electric bill; a Little Rock Air Force Base housing verification form; home purchase closing papers or a lease agreement.
More information is available by calling the district's Equity and Pupil Services Office at (501) 234-2020 or (501) 234-2021.
