A second candidate has filed for the city attorney's position in Maumelle, a race to be decided in the Nov. 4 general election.
Jess Sweere, 48, an attorney for the Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon and Galchus law firm in Little Rock, filed Tuesday. Sweere is board chairman for Academic Plus Charter School in Maumelle.
Maumelle Alderman Caleb Norris filed Friday for the city attorney's position. City Attorney JaNan Davis has announced that she won't file for re-election after 13 years at that job.
The Maumelle city attorney's position has a four-year term and a salary of $85,000 per year.
Candidates for elected municipal positions in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Maumelle and Cammack Village are to file to be on the November ballot by noon Aug. 15.
