Man runs vehicle carrying wife, children off road, deputies say

A North Little Rock man is accused of intentionally running his wife's vehicle off the road and into a ditch while she was driving with their three young children.

Juventino Hernandez Jr., 58, is facing four counts of aggravated assault.

The Pulaski County sheriff's office reports Hernandez's wife, who had recently sought an order of protection against him, received text messages in which he threatened to find her and harm her as she was visiting her mother Wednesday night on Reed Road.

Hernandez's wife opted to leave with the children, ages 6, 4 and 3, before he arrived. But as she was driving away, Hernandez came "driving erratically towards her down Reed Road" and ran the vehicle into a ditch, according to a sheriff's office report. A separate arrest report indicated the vehicle ended up on its side in a ditch, but that no one was injured.

North Little Rock police later arrested Hernandez at the family's home on West 39th Street.

Hernandez was not listed as an inmate Thursday morning in the Pulaski County jail online records.
