Registration for the Little Rock Marathon will open at 10 a.m. Friday, race officials announced Thursday.
The Little Rock Marathon, which will be held Feb. 28 through March 1, will allow runners and walkers to register starting this Friday, and officials anticipate more than 16,000 participants this year.
The weekend of fitness will host six events: the annual Little Rock Marathon, the Little Rock Half Marathon, the Little Rock 10K, the Little Rock 5K Fun Run/Walk, the Little Rockers Kid's Marathon and the Little Rock Health and Fitness Expo.
Registration for the Little Rockers Kid's Marathon will open Sept. 1.
For participants not sure they are ready to run, the marathon offers a training program for people who wish to get into shape for one of the events. Official training begins in mid-September, and a build-up training class will start Monday. The program is free of charge, but participants must have registered for one of the marathon events.
Registration will be available on the Little Rock Marathon website and will be open until Feb. 20. Mail-in registration is available on the website's registration page, or participants can call race headquarters at (501) 371- 4639.
