Visitors can have a gravity-defying good time at the annual Lamanpalooza celebration, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. This year's festival moves to the William F. Laman Public Library's newly reopened Argenta Branch, 420 Main St., North Little Rock, where bouncy houses and a zip line join with other games, crafts and activities to celebrate the library's Summer Reading Program. Shutter bugs will snap away at the Little Rock Photo Expo, Friday-Saturday at the Embassy Suites, 11301 Financial Centre Parkway, Little Rock. The conference and trade show will include keynote speakers Hanson Fong and Joe McNally and a variety of classes, 5-10 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday. Registration is $99.99. All ages are invited to walk as much or as little as they'd like for a good cause at the eighth annual Walk for Children and Families, Friday at Cooks Landing, North Little Rock. Check-in starts at 5:30 p.m. and the walk over the Big Dam Bridge begins at 6:30. Music, pizza and games will follow. Registration is $20, $50 per family and will go toward renovating Methodist Family Health facilities. Parking and free shuttle service will be offered from Crystal Hill Elementary School. The 2014 Faulkner Chamber Music Festival gets underway this weekend with a faculty recital featuring the Kontras Quartet -- Dmitri Pogorelov and Francois Henkins, violins; Ai Ishida, viola; and Jean Hatmaker, cello -- at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Stella Boyle Smith Auditorium, Fine Arts Building, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock. The program will include Ludwig van Beethoven's "Harp" Quartet, op.74, and, with Aaron Tubergen, viola, and Will Preece, cello, Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence." A second faculty recital will take place at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at UALR, with a student recital at 3 p.m. Aug. 9 in the Snow Fine Arts Center at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Makers, artisans and tinkerers come together to share skills and ideas, and inspire creative engineering at "Tinkerfest Meets Theaterfest," 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 S. The Mid-America Science Museum, 500 Mid-America Blvd., Hot Springs, will host Night @ the Museum: An Amazon Voyage, 7-10 p.m. Saturday. The benefit (all proceeds go toward the development of the museum's science education program), marking the last weeks of the "Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches" exhibition that closes Aug. 10, will feature dancing, Amazon-theme food and a photo booth with a 60-pound "life-like" anaconda.
