Arkansas Notary Workshop
RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present two sessions of the Arkansas Notary Workshop on Thursday at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Sessions will be from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Notaries verify signatures on legal and business documents to deter fraud and ensure the proper execution of these documents. The Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office will walk participants through the application process, assist them in understanding issues facing notaries, and outline best practices and procedures for current and future notaries public. Maumelle Newcomers Meeting
MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Newcomers will hold their monthly coffee at 10 a.m. at the Maumelle Community Center, 1100 Edgewood Drive. All women in the community are invited.
CONWAY — Kimberly Tomlinson, an advanced, certified color and skin-care specialist, will present the first in a series of five skin-care classes at 2 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. Get That Perfect Complexion is an hour-long class on learning proper skin and sun care for all skin types, from dry to normal to combo and acne prone. No makeup will be applied during the class. The classes will continue on the first Saturday of the month through December. All library events are free and open to the public.
CONWAY — Meet author Duke Warren Kittle at the Faulkner County Library at 2 p.m. Kittle is the author of The Dragon Eaters, a young-adult fantasy novel. LESLIE — The Rackensack Folklore Society Salutes Local Music Heritage will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ozark Heritage Arts Center, 410 Oak St. Admission is free, but donations will be taken for the center. The night of music will pay tribute to Jimmy Driftwood, Frankia Stills Treat, Elton Britt and fiddlers Absie and Abbie Morrison. AARP Smart Driver Course
RUSSELLVILLE — An AARP Smart Driver Course, hosted by Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Saint Mary’s Annex, behind the hospital. The class is open to people 55 and older. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers, payable to AARP the day of the class. Pastries and coffee will be provided. First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break
CONWAY — The First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break, a nondenominational Bible study, has relocated to Second Baptist Church at Dave Ward Drive and Farris Road. The event will be in the Student Building Fellowship Hall. Enter the drive from Farris Road. Women of all ages are invited to attend. Lunch, for $5, includes a drink and dessert. Sacred Heart Meat Sale
MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School is selling Petit Jean whole slow-smoked Boston butts (8-10 pounds) for $32 each and smoked pork ribs (4-4.5 pounds) for $26, just in time for Labor Day. The meat must be ordered by noon Aug. 14 and will be available for pickup from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Morrilton Packing House. Library Summer Concert Series

Augsburg Fall Fest Booth Applications
AUGSBURG — JoAnn Dorn, arts, crafts and vendor booth chairwoman, is taking applications for booth spaces for the seventh annual Augsburg Fall Fest, to be held Oct. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church at the intersection of Arkansas 333 and Augsburg Road.
