Pursuit of Indy carjacker ends with fatal crash

INDIANAPOLIS — A police pursuit of a suspected carjacker has ended with a crash that killed a 79-year-old man in Indianapolis.

Police say the stolen car they were pursuing crashed into the victim's car on West 16th Street near Kuntz Stadium on Sunday morning.

Police said security personnel from Eskenazi Hospital responding to an all-points bulletin about the stolen car were pursuing it at the time of the crash.

Police say the driver of the stolen car fled from the crash scene but was quickly apprehended and bitten by a police dog. Two other men in the car, ages 19 and 20, also were arrested. The age of the driver wasn't immediately released.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of relatives.
