Mountain View woman killed after vehicle hits tree

A Mountain View woman was killed Sunday afternoon when her vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree in Stone County, authorities said.

Karen R. Morris, 60, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet south on Arkansas 9 about 7 miles south of Mountain View when the vehicle veered off the highway in a curve and hit the tree, according to an Arkansas State Police report. It happened at 2:50 p.m.

Morris died from unspecified injuries.

Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

The death was the 151st in a traffic crash on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
