Four from Paragould killed in early morning crash

Four people from Paragould were killed in a wreck early Monday morning when the vehicle in which they were traveling ran off the road and hit a tree in Greene County.

Michael Martin, 20, of Paragould was southbound on Greene 765 Road just south of Browns Chapel Road in Paragould when his 2006 Honda Civic crested a hill and he lost control, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree at about 4:28 a.m.

Barry Weyer Jr., 20, Sarah Bean, 19, and Nathan Swafford, 20, all of Paragould were passengers in the car. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.

Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident.

The four deaths bring the state’s total to 156 for those who have been killed in a traffic crash on Arkansas roads in 2014, according to preliminary figures.
