Conway man dies after Tuesday morning dispute

A Conway man has died after he was involved in a domestic disturbance Tuesday morning.

Conway police and SWAT officers found a woman who had been stabbed several times at a home on Arden Lane about 10:30 a.m., a Conway Police Department news release states.

The woman told officers that her husband, Branagen Davis, 28, had attacked her with a box cutter and was still inside the home with their 2-year-old son, police said.

When SWAT officers attempted to make contact with Davis, they saw that the 2-year-old was in a different room of Officers found Davis inside the residence, and emergency medical personnel discovered that Davis had a stab wound to the chest after they brought him outside.

Davis was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Davis' wife, who was not immediately identified, said her husband had been “acting weird” and attacked her when she confronted him about his behavior, police said. She told police that she was able to defend herself during the attack by stabbing Davis with a piece of broken glass.

Detectives are trying to determine if Davis died from a self-inflicted wound or if it was a result of his wife defending herself, police said.

The woman remains in the hospital for the night for treatment of her injuries. The toddler was unharmed and is staying with relatives, police said.
