UALR names 3 vice-provost candidates

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has selected its top three candidates to become vice provost for research, innovation and economic development, the university said Tuesday.

The new vice provost will be head of department-based research projects, plus the university’s Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences; its Emerging Analytics Center; and TechLaunch, formerly the Center for Innovation & Commercialization, UALR officials said.

The finalists and their campus visit dates are:

• Amit Goyal, a corporate fellow and scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn., who holds a master’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from University of Rochester, N.Y..; an executive master’s of business administration from Purdue University of West Lafayette, Ind., and a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Rochester. He will visit campus June 9-10.

• Matt McKillip of Purdue University, who directs research and innovation across eight campuses. He holds a master’s degree in science/organizational leadership from Purdue and will visit June 17-18.

• Andrew Myers, executive director of the Kansas Polymer Research Center at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., holds master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the University of Rochester. He will visit June 11-12.
