A 49-year-old man was shot in the chest Tuesday night after a gunman approached him on the porch of his Little Rock home and opened fire.

Police said Gerald Sanders was taken to UAMS Medical Center. His condition wasn't clear, but Little Rock Police Department Lt. Sidney Allen said the injury was not considered life-threatening.

According to a police report, a gunman walked up about 10:40 p.m. to the porch of Sanders' home in the 2800 block of West 13th Street. A witness told authorities the man pointed the gun at Sanders and two others on the porch and then said "Drop it off!"

The witness initially thought the man was joking, the report noted, but the gunman then fired once into the ceiling. The man fired "several more shots" and then Sanders fell to the ground with an apparent gunshot wound in his chest, the report said.

Officer searched the area for the shooter but didn't find him. He is described as a black man who stood 5-foot-11, weighed about 145 pounds and was wearing a red hat.

No information on a suspected motive was included in the report.
