Missing Batesville woman found dead near Malvern

An Independence County woman who's been missing since Tuesday was found dead Wednesday, according to a statement from the Bryant Police Department.

A welfare concern for Linda Stingley was issued Wednesday by the Independence County sheriff’s department.

Bryant police Sgt. Todd Crowson said Stingley was from Batesville.

Some of Stingley’s personal items were found Wednesday in Bryant, the news release states. After further investigation by Independence County sheriff’s department, Arkansas State Police and the Bryant Police Department, Stingley’s body was located in a rural wooded area outside of Malvern, police said.

The case is being investigated as a homicide. No further details were immediately released.
