Searcy woman found fit for trial in mom's death

SEARCY — A Searcy woman has been found mentally fit to stand trial in the shooting death of her mother.

Prosecutors accuse 33-year-old Alexandria Amber-Danielle Williams of fatally shooting her mother, Dina Darden, as Darden was leaving her job at a Big Lots store. Authorities say Williams shot Darden and then fled in a red pickup.

Arkansas State Police later stopped Williams by using spike strips in the road.

Searcy Police Cpl. Steve Hernandez told The Daily Citizen that a motive is not yet known in the case. Williams' attorney, Ellen Reif, has asked White County Circuit Judge Robert Edwards for another court hearing to discuss whether the results of Williams' mental evaluation will be contested.
