Lanes to close for interstate improvements starting Monday

Improvements along Interstate 530 and Interstate 40 Mississippi River Bridge will require ramp closures across the state, officials said Friday.

The northbound interchange ramps of I-530 will be resurfaced at exit 12 in Woodson in southern Pulaski County and will require the closing of each ramp for about one hour, officials with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work will occur between 7 a.m. and noon Monday.

Lanes will close starting Monday on the Mississippi River Bridge for crews to perform seismic modifications to the bridge, officials said.

The modifications will help stabilize the bridge in the event of an earthquake. The eastbound and westbound lanes on I-40 between the bridge and exit 281/Mound City Road will be closed weekdays between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The closures will continue until June 20.
