100 years ago - Among the unusual street decorations for the Elks' convention is the copy of Sir Edwin Landseer's famous picture, "The Monarch of the Glen," showing an elk, life size, surrounded by a floral decoration and illuminated with electric lights. It is over Stifft's store on Main street between Third and Fourth, and is the work of his advertising manager, W. L. Jukes.
