Arson suspected in blaze at Zinc Fire Department

ZINC — Authorities in Boone County are investigating a suspected case of arson at a volunteer fire department.

The Boone County sheriff's office said the fire was reported Sunday morning at the Zinc Volunteer Fire Department. Authorities said the two buildings serving as fire stations had both roofs blazing when emergency responders arrived.

Firefighters put out the blaze and saved most of their equipment, but both roofs are considered a loss.

No one was hurt in the fire.

The sheriff's office said an investigation showed that the fire was intentionally set. No one has been arrested yet.
