Bids for U.S. 67 projects in Jacksonville approved

The Arkansas Highway Commission has approved several bids for road improvements in the Jacksonville area.

The largest of the bids announced Tuesday is a nearly $42 million project to reconstruct and widen 1.3 miles of U.S. 67 in Jacksonville. The project includes replacing the bridges over Redmond Road and Main Street, and resurfacing interchange ramps. Work on that project is set to begin within the next month and should be complete in early 2016.

The commission also approved a $2.6 million bid to resurface 7 miles of U.S. 67 between Jacksonville and Cabot, along with a $201,000 bid to resurface parts of First Street and James Street, also in Jacksonville.
