McDaniel's office to show efforts to stop copper theft

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas attorney general's office is to hold an event to highlight state efforts to thwart copper thieves.

The event is set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's conference room.

McDaniel's office says the North Little Rock Police Department will receive an award for its efforts to enforce laws banning the theft of metals. Also, AT&T will recognize Saline County resident David Steel.

Steel was awoken by his dog, Honey Bear, and alerted that copper thieves were stealing cable belonging to AT&T. The suspects were arrested by law enforcement.
