It’s our national anthem’s 200th birthday and Arkansas Flag and Banner, 800 W. Ninth St., Little Rock, is getting in on the party with a special Flag Day Celebration, 2-4 p.m. Saturday. The party will include a flag disposal ceremony, games, children’s activities and refreshments, and at 3 p.m. attendees are invited to join in a “Star-Spangled Banner” sing-along as part of a nationwide attempt to break a world record. Little Rock's newest theatrical venue and company, the Studio Theatre, 320 W. A testy relationship between two witty antagonists develops into love as Benton-based Saline County Shakes stages William Shakespeare's comedy Much Ado About Nothing at 7 p.m. today-Saturday and June 19-21 in the Juli Busken Memorial Amphitheater, Tyndall Park, 914 E. • And it isn't exactly Shakespeare, but the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre continues its run in repertory of the musical Pippin (music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Roger O. Hirson), this weekend, with shows at 7:30 p.m. today and June 25 and 27 and 2 p.m. Friday, and June 22, 25 and 27 at the Donald W. "So What!,"a new exhibit of large-scale works by Little Rock painter Ray Wittenberg, opens Friday at the Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third St., Little Rock, with a 5-8 p.m. reception in conjunction with downtown Little Rock's Second Friday Art Night and featuring music by Heather Smith. Shuttle service to other Art Night venues runs until 8:30. Admission to the reception and the exhibition (up through Sept. 7) is free. Some of the fastest runners around will gather at the starting line to run the Go! Mile, the Road Runners Club of America's national championship one-mile road race, 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Burns Park Soccer Complex in North Little Rock. There are seven divisions for the race, by age group and ability, starting with novices at 7:30 a.m. and continuing on to elite runners. There will be a mini-mile for children ages 9 and under. Those anxious to take their old formal out of mothballs have the perfect opportunity at the Up in the Air Prom, 7-11 p.m. Friday. Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1601 S. Louisiana St., Little Rock, will host this "second-chance/possum prom," which will include dancing, contests and "cheesy photos." Downtown Warren will host a weekend of tomato-packed fun as it celebrates the annual Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival, today-Saturday. This year's headliners are Ricky Skaggs and the Kentucky Thunder and Slik.Nickel and the festival will include the usual arts and crafts, races, games and, of course, tomato eating. The Hot Springs Music Festival closes out its 19th season with a Festival Symphony Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Oaklawn Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School, 301 Oaklawn St., Hot Springs. The program: Overture to Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Don Juan by Richard Strauss; and the Symphony No. 2 in c minor, op.17, "Little Russian," by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky. Automobile enthusiasts are already gathering on Petit Jean Mountain for the 56th annual Petit Jean Antique Auto Show & Swap Meet. The show is already underway and continues, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., through Saturday at the Museum of Automobiles, 8 Jones Lane, Morrilton. Collectible cars will be on display and for sale while vendors will also offer restoration supplies, parts and collectibles. An open car show will be 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.
