U.S. 70 work to shut lanes in 3 counties

Work on U.S. 70 will require lane closures in Garland, Hot Spring and Montgomery counties starting next week, state highway officials said Friday.

Crews clearing debris from along the shoulders to prevent the buildup of water on the road will reduce traffic to one lane within the work zones. The work will extend from Hempwallace in Garland County west to the Montgomery/Pike county line between Monday and June 26, weather permitting, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

The work will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m these days in the following locations:

• Monday-June 20, eight miles in Garland County from Hempwallace to the Hot Spring County line.

• June 23-24, four miles in Hot Spring County from the Garland County line to the Montgomery County line.

• June 25-26, six miles in Montgomery County between the Hot Spring County line and the Pike County line.

Flaggers, cones and warning signs will be used to alert traffic, the department said.
