1 dead, 1 hurt in gunfight identified

Little Rock police have identified one man who died and another who was hospitalized after being shot in a parking lot near Geyer Springs Road on Saturday night.

Tony Wade, 29, of Mabelvale was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital after being found shot in a parking lot outside 7515 Geyer Springs Road. Laron Ware, 44, was found shortly after, having left the scene of the parking lot, and was also taken to UAMS, where he later died from his injuries, authorities said.

Officers responded to 7515 Geyer Springs Road in southwest Little Rock at 7:46 p.m. Saturday after hearing shots fired, according to Little Rock Police Department report.

Wade was found lying on the ground with obvious gunshot wounds, police said. Two witnesses said he had been shot in the parking lot by five men who were driving a silver vehicle, according to the report.

An officer stopped a vehicle matching the description at 59th Street and Geyer Springs, police said. In the car, the officer discovered Ware, who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He taken to UAMS.

Four others were found in the car, taken to Major Crimes Division and released later that day, police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said.
