Sommer Mary Slattery and Phillip Stephen Blucas exchanged marriage vows at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in University Baptist Church, Fort Worth. The Rev. Jeffrey Flint of First Baptist Church in Bellingham, Wash., cousin of the groom, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Leslie and Rem J. Slattery III of North Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Ardath Dunning of Eagle Nest, N.M., and Mary and the late Rem J. Slattery Jr., the late Ernest Dunning and the late Glenn Thomson, all of Houston.

Johnette and Stephen Blucas of Ruston, La., are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late Lorraine and John Louis Pullig of Gibsland, La., and the late Alice and Walter Blucas of Boswell, Pa.

The chancel held a large arrangement of green and white hydrangeas, bells of Ireland, white delphinium, white open roses and green hanging amaranthus. Nuptial music was by organist Dana Reed. Lynn Sugarek of Houston, cousin of the bride, read Scripture. Melanie Turner of Orlando, Fla., served as guest book attendant.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a trumpet-style oyster-white gown with an overlay of ivory lace-embellished tulle which extended to a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas and open garden roses, white peonies and amaranthus.

Lindsey Manning of Foley, Ala., served as the bride's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Aira Burkhart of Morgantown, W.Va.; Anna Valles of Arlington, Texas; and Melanie Belgard of Baton Rouge, sister of the groom. They wore peacock-blue gowns and carried green bouquets of hydrangeas, dianthus, roses and parrot tulips.

Flower girl was Remi Josephine Slattery-Nguyen of Durham, N.C., niece of the bride.

Sean Farley of Chicago was best man. Groomsmen were Jonathan Barre and Scott Belgard, both of Baton Rouge, and Scott Slattery of Durham, brother of the bride. Guests were seated by Hayden Dunning and Ian Dunning, both of Houston, and Lee Sugarek of Clear Lake, Texas, cousins of the bride.

A reception at Ashton Depot in Fort Worth followed the ceremony. Tables held arrangements of green and white hydrangeas, open white roses, white orchids and green spider chrysanthemums and floating candles in cylinders of varying heights.

The bride graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in industrial design from Auburn (Ala.) University, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. She is an industrial designer for Ignite Partnership in Richardson, Texas.

The groom graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge where he was a member of the LSU Tiger Band. He is a television engineer with Mobile TV Group in Denver.

After a wedding trip to Montana and Banff, Alberta, the couple will make their home in Baton Rouge.
