Woman killed, 3 children hurt in crash

A Louisiana woman was killed and three children were hurt when a vehicle veered off the highway and rolled over Monday afternoon in Calhoun County.

Freda W. Moore, 66, of Minden, La., was driving a 2004 GMC south on U.S. 167 about 1:45 p.m. when the vehicle went left of center "for unknown reasons," Arkansas State Police said in a report.

Moore then overcorrected to the right and the GMC ran off the right side of the highway, where it rolled about two times, the report said.

Moore died from unspecified injuries. Three passengers in the vehicle, ages 13, 9 and 5, were taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Their conditions weren't clear.

The report didn't specify the precise location on U.S. 167 in Calhoun County where the crash occurred.

The death was the 178th in a traffic crash so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
