A Saline County teenager drowned Tuesday afternoon while swimming in the Saline River, according to a statement from the Benton Police Department.

Police responded about 12:38 p.m. to the Henry Street access to the river, where witnesses said Michael Baker, 18, went underwater while swimming and didn't resurface.

Multiple agencies searched for Baker, including the Benton Fire Department and dive teams with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Grant County Fire Rescue, police said.

Shortly before 3 p.m., officials found Baker's body in the river. Police are investigating the death but said no foul play is suspected at this time.
