Man arrested in fatal LR robbery

A man wanted in the fatal shooting of a Little Rock man last June was apprehended Wednesday in Illinois, authorities said.

Cornelius Pittman, 25, was arrested in Chicago on a capital murder warrant in the death of Lawrence Thomas, 39, Little Rock police said in a statement.

On June 30, 2013, Thomas was shot near West 13th and Peyton streets after a man he was giving a ride demanded money and Thomas refused. The robber then pulled out a gun and shot Thomas three times in his right knee. Thomas died July 16 due to complications from his injuries, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette previously reported.

Pittman was brought back to the Little Rock Police Department and charged with Thomas' murder based on evidence and his statements to police, the news release states. He was transported to the Pulaski County jail, where he's currently being held without bail.
