Driver killed in Crawford County collision

A woman from Dyer died Thursday when her car collided with a minivan on U.S. 64 in Crawford County, authorities said.

It happened about 7 a.m. as Rilla J. Leakey, 62, was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima west on the highway near Firefly Lane between Alma and Dyer, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Police say Leakey's car crossed the center line in a curve and it collided with an eastbound Ford Windstar as Leakey "overcorrected hard to the right."

Leakey was taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers, where she died.

The driver and two passengers in the Windstar were hurt, though the extent of their injuries wasn't clear.

Conditions at the time were reported to be clear and dry.

The death was the 183rd in a traffic crash so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
