Free employment-certification program to be held at ASUMH

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) is offering a free, four-week employment-certification program starting Tuesday.

Through Ready2Work, a locally recognized training program, the university will provide certification for job-seekers wanting to learn basic office and technical skills. The classes will be taught by representatives from Baxter Healthcare, Epoxyn Products, Eaton Corporation, Food Bank of North Central Arkansas and Ranger Boats, Workforce Development Director Sarah Brozynski said.

These groups employ anywhere from 750 to 1000 soft-skill workers in their companies and, because of their high turn-over rate, are constantly looking for new employees, Brozynski said. That's why a few years ago, the companies started Ready2Work program to help applicants distinguish themselves to those companies looking for new workers.

Brozynski said the companies' human resources departments guarantee at least an interview to people with Ready2Work certification if they apply.

The classes will be held June 24 through July 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Attendance at all classes is mandatory to earn the certificate. Those interested in the program may register online or call (870) 508-6106.
