A routine bridge inspection will require lane closures next week on U.S. 64 between Fort Smith and Van Buren, officials said Friday.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said crews will inspect the Arkansas River Bridge connecting Fort Smith and Van Buren, and the work will require closing eastbound and westbound outside lanes of U.S. 64.

The eastbound closures will be Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting, while the westbound closures will be Wednesday and Thursday during the same time frame.
