PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Corrections says an inmate who walked away from a work assignment in the Pine Bluff area remains at large.
Shea Wilson, spokeswoman for the department, said Sunday that 47-year-old Timothy Buffington, a trusty inmate assigned to the Pine Bluff Unit, left his work assignment Saturday evening. Wilson says authorities are searching for Buffington in the area of Princeton Pike in Pine Bluff.
Buffington is serving a 20-year sentence for first-degree murder out of Logan County. He entered the Corrections Department in March 1999.
Wilson says the search is being conducted by correctional officers and local and state law enforcement agencies.
Buffington is described as white, 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 182 pounds.
