Bronwyn Dee Marie MacFarlane became the bride of Lt. Gregory Erik Sorenson at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, in Mexico United Methodist Church in Mexico, Mo. The Rev. Karen Taylor officiated

The bride is the daughter of Beverly and the late Edward K. MacFarlane of Mexico. She is the granddaughter of the late Marie and L.E. Clark of Mexico and the late Estamae MacFarlane and the late Olive and John MacFarlane of Pueblo, Colo.

The groom is the son of Mary and Leland Sorenson of Pekin, Ill. His grandparents are Madeleine and the late Woodrow Sorenson of Lincoln, Ill., and Corrine and the late Norman Sinclair of Grand Forks, N.D.

The altar held arrangements of white and pink wedding flowers. Music was by organist Mary Ann Kasubke.

The bride, escorted by her mother and her uncle, J.D. MacFarlane, wore a Vera Wang silk organza gown embellished with hand-appliqued embroidered lace. She carried a cascade of white orchids, stephanotis and roses.

Jennifer Portillo of Denver, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor. Carol Sorenson-Bronke of Lake in The Hills, Ill., and Dr. Marsha Sorenson of New York, sisters of the groom, served as bridesmaids. They wore coral gowns with halter necklines.

Flower girl was Nicole MacFarlane and ring bearer was Natalie MacFarlane, both of Denver and cousins of the bride.

Best man was Josh C. Bronke of Lake in The Hills. Groomsmen were John MacFarlane of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Andrew MacFarlane of Denver, cousins of the bride. Ushers, who also formed a sword arch as the couple left the church, were Cmdr. Cathy Stubbs and Lt. Cmdr. Kelly Alderman, both of Columbia, Mo.; Lt. Cmdr. Nathaniel Brown of Omaha, Neb.; Lt. James Denning of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Seaman Apprentice Victor Pruett and Seaman Jacob Kilner of Jefferson City, Mo.

A reception and dance followed in the church Fellowship Hall. Guest tables covered with white tablecloths held rose bowls and rose petals. Music was by The Liberty Jazz Band.

The bride has a bachelor's degree in secondary education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Missouri. She also has a master's degree in counseling from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and a doctorate in educational policy, planning and leadership from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. She is interim associate dean of accreditation, licensure and student affairs for the new College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The groom graduated with highest honors and bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a senior engineer with Southwest Power Pool. He also commands an engineering unit in the Naval Reserve and recently returned from Kabul, Afghanistan, where he served as an operations planner.

After a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will live in Little Rock.
