Juneteenth event reflects on avenues to freedom

Crowds gathered outside the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center on Saturday to celebrate Juneteenth -- which commemorates the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas heard the news that they were emancipated -- while another crowd gathered inside to reflect on 50 years since the Freedom Summer project in Mississippi and what many believe has been a lack of social consciousness since then.
