'Youth in Bluegrass Night' is part of Paragould series

The Clark Family Trio and Clancey Ferguson & the Ragtags will perform for Jonesboro public radio station KASU-FM, 91.9's "Arkansas Youth in Bluegrass Night," part of its monthly Bluegrass Monday series, 7 p.m. Monday at the Collins Theatre, 120 W. Emerson St., Paragould. The station will pass the hat to pay the band; suggested donation is $5 per person. Bridesmaids forever

Four friends who made a vow in high school that they'd all be in each other's weddings find years later just what it's going to take to keep that promise in Always a Bridesmaid by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooton, opening Tuesday at Murry's Dinner Playhouse, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock.

The show runs through July 19; curtain time is 7:45 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, with the exception of Wednesday matinees (June 25 and July 2 and 9, no shows those evenings); 12:45 and 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Mormon musical

The national touring company of Tony Award-winning musical The Book of Mormon will be onstage 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 6 p.m. June 29 at the Orpheum Theatre, 203 Main St., Memphis.

Music, lyrics and book are by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone -- Parker and Stone are the creators of TV's South Park and Lopez is the Tony Award-winning co-creator of the musical Avenue Q.

Get the Hook

The Fable Factory, a touring theatrical production group, will hold auditions for children going into grades 4-12 for its theatrical and musical workshop for The Revenge of Captain Hook, a sequel to Peter Pan, 3 p.m. July 13 at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center, Arkansas State University-Mountain Home, 1600 S. College St., Mountain Home.

No preparation is necessary and there's no cost or need to register in advance; however, there's a $60 costume fee for students who are chosen. Solo and group parts are available; rehearsals will be 9-11:30 a.m. July 14-18 (there may also be some afternoon rehearsals), leading up to performances July 19-20. Call (870) 508-6280.

Jazz series

New York-based jazz trio The Bad Plus -- bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson and drummer David King -- will open The Oxford American magazine's four-concert jazz series, 8 p.m. Oct. 2 at South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock.

Forrest City season

Country singer Martina McBride will open the 2014-15 Fine Arts Center season at East Arkansas Community College, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City, with a "fifth anniversary event," 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29. Pandora Jewelry is the sponsor.

Arts nominees

Aug. 1 is the deadline to nominate Arkansas artists, patrons and corporations for the Arkansas Arts Council's 2015 Governor's Arts Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the arts community.

Nominees must be current Arkansas residents or Arkansas-based corporations, in seven categories: Arts Community Development, Arts in Education, Corporate Sponsorship of the Arts, Individual Artist, Folklife, Patron and Lifetime Achievement. Recipients will receive their awards at a February 2015 ceremony.
