While Monday storms delivered a downpour and thousands of lightning strikes to Arkansas, the state will settle into a "more typical" summer weather pattern Wednesday, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock said nearly 6,300 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes were recorded during storms in Arkansas from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday.

There were about 500 strikes in Pulaski County between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., National Weather Service meteorologist John Robinson said in an email.

The weather is expected to return to a "more typical summertime pattern" starting Wednesday and lasting through Friday, with scattered thunderstorms occurring primarily in the afternoons and early evenings, Robinson said.

“While there could be an isolated severe storm or two each day, we are not looking for any widespread severe weather,” Robinson said in an email.

Each day "will probably see locally heavy downpours over relatively small areas," he said, "but no widespread heavy rain is expected."
