Man found by lake identified by police

CONWAY -- Authorities have identified a man who died shortly after being shot and found near Lake Conway last week, the sheriff's office said Monday.

Jermaine LaMont Harris Tyus, 34, of Conway died a few hours after he was found unconscious and lying on the side of a road on the Conway side of the lake, said Matt Rice, spokesman for the Faulkner County sheriff's office.

Rice said the victim went by both last names but didn't hyphenate them. Rice didn't know if one of the names was an alias.

About 6:30 p.m. Friday, a passerby found the victim, who had been shot in the head, Rice said. Emergency responders airlifted the victim to a Little Rock hospital, where he died an hour or two later, Rice said.

No one had been arrested as of Monday.
